Pep Guardiola Has Contractual Clause To Manage NYCFC

Mar 28, 2019 6:32 PM

Pep Guardiola inserted a clause into his contract with Manchester City that he would be offered the NYCFC job if he were to leave City. Manchester City and NYCFC are both a part of the City Football Group.

“I am told on very good authority that in his contract when he signed his first contract with Manchester City, which of course remember is owned by City Football Group, who own clubs all over the world, he was asked and was given an option that when his contract at Manchester City expired or indeed he wanted to leave, that he would be offered the job of coaching New York City FC,” said football consultant Ian McGarry.

Guardiola, who has an apartment in New York City, took a sabbatical in the city in between his time with Barcelona and City.

The last few months have been a fantastic experience and I want to thank all of the coaches, players and staff for the work we’ve done so far. This is the job that I always dreamed of doing and I’m beyond excited to have the chance to lead the club long-term and hopefully deliver the continued success that our amazing fans deserve.”

Harry Kane Says He Wants To Be A Kicker In NFL

Mar 27, 2019 5:50 PM

Harry Kane said he has a genuine desire to play in the NFL as a kicker.

“[The desire to play in the NFL] is real. Something that in 10 or 12 years I definitely want to try. It goes back to that drive to be the best...If you play in the Premier League and the World Cup and you then play in the NFL, would you then be considered one of the greatest sportsmen ever?”

Kane added that he is inspired by Tom Brady's drive.

“Not many people thought he’d become that good, or even play in the NFL, and he went on to become the best ever. At the time, it gave me a real boost to say, look, anything is possible. If you have that self-belief and that drive and that hunger, you can do it.”

Jose Mourinho Interested In Ligue 1 Move

Mar 27, 2019 5:48 PM

Jose Mourinho said that he wouldn't turn down an opportunity to coach in Ligue 1.

"If I say that I don't want to go to Ligue 1 then I wouldn't be honest with you. If I say that I do then you'll start to speculate about the clubs that could interest me. I can go back to a country where I've worked before, or try to go to a fifth country and win everything, like I have in other places, which would be important," said Mourinho.

Reports have linked Mourinho to Monaco and Lyon.

Ajax To Sign Razvan Marin To Replace Frenkie De Jong

Mar 26, 2019 7:41 AM

Ajax will sign Razvan Marin to replace Frenkie de Jong for €12 million. Ajax signed De Jong to Barcelona for €86 million.

Ruud Vormer of Belgian club Brugge, compared Marin to De Jong and highlighted the Romanian midfielder’s versatility.

"Frenkie has a great dribble,” he said. “It's one of his weapons. Marin runs much less with the ball. He's one of the best in the Belgian league, he can play both six and eight.”

Real Madrid pursued Mbappe in 2017, but Monaco sold him to PSG.

Zinedine Zidane was recently asked about Mbappe and Neymar.
